Shasta State Historic Park – Old Shasta

Haunted?  Absolutely!

Shasta State Historic Park is located just 10 minutes west of Redding on Highway 299. Or, as we locals call it, “Old Shasta.”

Stuck in a time bubble, Old Shasta is what remains of the original gold-mining town of Shasta, complete with a museum, original cemetery, jail, and gallows (sans rope).

Old Shasta is well worth a visit.

Sundial Bridge

The Sundial Bridge is the Eiffel Tower of Redding; it is the iconic center of attraction, and rightfully so.

Set in an idyllic location, the Sundial Bridge spans the Sacramento River and connects the north and south Sacramento River Trail.

The bridge is open to pedestrians and cyclists alike and is free to explore.

Bonus: The Sundial Bridge is a working sundial, one day per year. Kind of.
