Redding is a small city of about 90,000 people, in Shasta County, in Northern California, about 160 miles north of Sacramento, and 120 miles south of the Oregon border.  It is located exactly halfway between Los Angeles and Seattle, Interstate 5 goes straight through it.  It is 140 miles from the Pacific Ocean, and 180 miles from the Nevada border.

When is the best time to visit Redding?

If you want the full Redding Experience, we recommend visiting during one of the major events, like Kool April Nites or the Redding Rodeo, when the whole city is buzzing.  You could catch the last two days of Kool April Nites for example, and then head off into the surrounding national parks or lakes, or head up into the Trinity Alps or Mt. Shasta.  The best times of year to visit Redding are early summer or early fall.
